About the Project

(Electronic Museum Guidance System) 
“E-MUSE” Project is co-financed by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey, under “The Civil Society Facility - EU - Turkey Intercultural Dialogue: Museums (ICD-MUSE)” Programme. 
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the development of civil society dialogue, mutual understanding between Turkey (TR) and the European Union (EU) through increasing share of knowledge and experiences and transfer of innovative technological applications.
The project was started in November 1st, 2012 and it will end in October 31st, 2012. Izmir Museum of Archeology is the coordinator of the project. Rheinische Landesmuseum Trier from Germany is the partner of the Project which has a budget of around 140.000 Euro. 
The electronic museum guidance system which is going to be established in Izmir Museum of Archeology is composed of 24 audio-guides and 2 charger stations. The guides will be for adults, children and deaf visitors. The guides for adults will be in Turkish, English and German with duration of 45 minutes. The children guides will be in Turkish with the duration of 30 minutes and 45 minutes audio guides for hearing impaired visitors will be in Turkish sign language.
Apart from the audio-guides a project web site, brochures and posters will be prepared. There is going to be three partner meetings including an opening ceremony at the first and a closing ceremony at the last meetings. The staff of İzmir Museum of Archaeology will be trained on “the use of technology in the museums” through a three day training seminar hosted by Rheinische Landesmuseum Trier.
This project will contribute in general to increase both the number of visitors and the quality of the visits in İzmir Museum of Archeology in the long term. The project will also improve the capacity of İzmir Museum of Archaeology to manage EU projects and to cooperate with other museums in the EU.
